Robotic Surgery and Endoscopy

Robotically assisted surgery allows doctors to perform complex procedures less invasively and with more precision, flexibility and control than is possible with conventional techniques. Intraoperative optical imaging provides tissue contrast beyond what can be perceived by the human eye, resulting in improved surgical outcomes. To access non-exposed surgical sites, illumination for visualization is typically delivered through an endoscope. In addition to the stability and reliability required for critical surgical applications, Lumencor’s solid-state illumination technologies provide the capacity to engineer the light source spectral distribution to provide optimized color rendition for the surgeon. Furthermore, addition of near-infrared fluorescence excitation allows specific visualization of intersecting blood vessels. Coupled to sophisticated feedback and control systems, these endoscopic illumination technologies offer a complete portfolio of visualization solutions to designers and manufacturers of robotic and minimally invasive surgery systems.
