Stories of Impact

Watch the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network’s Stories of Impact, featuring Lumencor’s light for life sciences by co-founder and EVP Claudia Jaffe.

Lumencor Product Portfolio

This 45-minute video begins with a summary of the economic and performance characteristics that differentiate modern solid-state light engines from conventional arc discharge lamp light sources. The presentation then moves on to describe how Lumencor’s SOLA, SPECTRA X, MIRA, PEKA and LIDA light engines are differentiated from each other in terms of performance and applications. Accessories such as image acquisition software and liquid light guides required for integration of light engines and microscopes are also discussed.

Presented by Iain Johnson, Director of Technical Support

OEN Entrepreneurial Summit 2016

Lumencor co-founder and Executive Vice President, Claudia Jaffe, speaking at the OEN Entrepreneurial Summit 2016. Learn how Lumencor began as a “garage start-up” and battled some fierce competition in order to become the thriving bio-tech lighting company it is today.

Lumencor’s Exhibitor Showcase

Lumencor’s exhibit booth features at scientific meetings and tradeshows throughout the year. We have lots to show and tell!  Here, Iain Johnson, Director of Technical Support, demonstrates some of the features of our SPECTRA X and SOLA SE light engines at our Photonics West 2016 exhibit in San Francisco.

This movie shows a two color (DsRed and GFP) time lapse image of C.Elegans. The GFP highlights the worm gut. The DsRed is a neuronal marker. Images were collected using triggered collection with a Photometrics HQ2 camera. The exposure time was 5mS, 30 2-color frames collected per second. The frame rate was limited by the camera (2×2 binning). The video was observed on a Nikon Ti microscope with 10x 0.5NA plan fluor objective.

A culture of male pig kidney epithelial cells (LLC-PK1 line) expressing mCherry and mEmerald fluorescent proteins fused to human histone H2B and alpha-tubulin, respectively. The video was captured using a Nikon Eclipse TE2000 microscope and Lumencor AURA light engine™ using Elements software.

A culture of male pig kidney epithelial cells (LLC-PK1 line) transfected with mEmerald and mRuby Fluorescent Protein to show H2B histone protein and microtubule-associated EB3 protein, respectively in a dual color video driven by a Lumencor AURA light engine TM on a Nikon Eclipse TE microscope with Elements Drivers.

Human osteosarcoma (bone cancer, U2 line) was transfected with mCherry and monomeric Enhanced Green Fluorescent Proteins to highlight H2B histone protein and transferrin receptor, respectively in a dual color video driven by a Lumencor AURA light engine TM on a Nikon Eclipse TE microscope with Elements Drivers.

A culture of male pig kidney epithelial cells (LLC-PK1 line) transfected with TagBFP, mCherry and mEmerald Fluorescent Proteins highlights the H2B histone protein, peroxisome and mitochondria, respectively. This three color time lapsed video was collected using a Lumencor AURA Light Engine TM on a Nikon Elipse TE microscope using Elements Software.
